Genius has just announced the Genius Ergo 8800 Ergonomic Mouse, which has a few features that stand out from standard mice. First of all, this is not a ‘gaming mouse’ but an ergonomic one, as you can tell from the shape of it:
The main feature being touted by Genius is its support for “Windows 8 Mode”. By holding down the left, right, and scroll buttons, you can use Windows 8’s task switching features and ‘charm bar’. MS themselves seem to be distancing themselves from these features on the desktop though, so I’m not sure how useful this will be.
It has an infrared sensor that can be set to 800, 1200, and 1600 DPI, with what looks to be a good button layout (there are 7 buttons in total).
It also has a 36 month battery life, and a mounting tab that you can stick to something to give yourself a place to store it while not in use. The Ergo 8800 is available now for $49.99 MSRP. For more details, check out Genius’ product page.
