XBOX 360 tops sales chart for once

As you just saw, Halo 3 sold pretty damn well in September, making more money than every other game on the Top 10 list combined. It also helped propel the 360 to the top of NDP’s September hardware sales charts, although not by as much as you might have expected:

  1. Xbox 360 - 527.8K
  2. Wii - 501K
  3. Nintendo DS - 495.8K
  4. PlayStation Portable - 284.5K
  5. PlayStation 2 - 215K
  6. PlayStation 3 - 119.4K
  7. Game Boy Advance - 75K

It seems that most of the people who spent 3.3 million to buy Halo 3 already owned an XBOX 360 to play it on. Either that, or a lot of people just bought the Legendary Edition for the cat helmet. Either way, Microsoft has to be pleased to outsell the Wii for once.

As you can also see, there is a reason Sony is taking such desperate measures to try to get people to buy a Playstation 3. It’s getting closer to the Game Boy Advance than it is to the Playstation 2 in terms of sales figures. Ouch!
