According to this report at BBC, researchers in Switzerland have discovered a new disease after a 12-year-old girl was brought to a hospital complaining of having sores on her hands. As it turns out, she had a form of Hidradenitis, which is basically inflamed/infected sweat glands. She had been playing a Playstation game, gripping the controller for hours on end, and the result was a brand new disease dubbed PlayStation palmar hidradenitis. I wonder if Sony can trademark the term?
If you are curious as to what this new disease might look like, I suppose you could do a Google image search of hidradenitis. However keep in mind that this disease usually affects areas like armpits, groins, under breasts, etc. Trust me when I say it’s best left to the imagination.
