In order for this to work, I had to navigate to "C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the files. Once the windows media player database was removed, I updated the library, and all my mp4 files began to work.

O.k. so I have searched and searched for a guide for us stupid noobies like me to do this. I want to find a way to stream BRRIP movies from my laptop to xbox360. I can do DVDrip movies to it through a USB flash drive and limited streaming to my xbox. Problem with the USB method is that some BRRIP's will play and others will not...example, Terminator Salvation BRRIP plays fine (used Yamb to get the 2 Ch audio merged) but Star Trek BRRIP plays for 5 minutes and then says "Cannot play video..blah blah..."

I tried to double click the registry edit that is shown here but I get something like "Not a valid registry script" or something like that.

Okay, so the new Azureus (now Vuze) has XBOX transcode/stream capability,
If you don't have it yet, it is a free download: www.vuze.com

It is a little slow on transcoding, but makes it really easy for everyone with these issues.

i followed all the steps and tried to watch an m4v video file on my xbox 360 and it tells me "Cannot play video: The file type is not recognized and cannot be played. Either the correct codec is not installed or the file is corrupt." i know the file isn't corrupt and since i followed the directions up above precisely, i would think i have the correct codec, but if anyone could help me out with this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I just got done following all the steps. My xbox 360 now recognizes the files but I am still unable to play them. It says unsupported content. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or where I went wrong? I am running windows vista 32-bit.
Thanks for the help. :)
