When I saw the gameplay video for Spore last year, I was amazed. I have never seen anything like it with the level of management, customization and intricacy. Each level of gameplay was so different. Quite simply, it was probably one of my most anticipated games of 2007. Then I heard it was pushed back until 2008, which was disappointing but not surprising considering how far ahead of it’s time Spore is in terms of gameplay.

Spore Delayed 2009

Now, Kotaku is reporting that the latest issue of gaming magazine Game Informer comments that the new Maxis game has been delayed indefinitely. EA denies this but admits the game has been pushed back until at least Q1 2009.

I don’t know about you but from the gameplay video, I thought the game was close to being finished so I can’t imagine why the game will be delayed for the better part of two years. The only reason I can think of is that they’re going to try to port it to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, which would probably not be a good idea in terms of making the game better but probably a good move in terms of marketing and sales.
