Do you have a problem?

I'm trying to think of some problems I had with this board.. I can only think of a couple, and boy are they minor.  The first 'problem' I have is the bootup speed.  Before you even post - before the video card even posts - the board just sits there for about 5 seconds.. I have no idea why it does this, and I haven't found a way to stop it.  Not a big problem though...

The other thing, which is even more minor, there is only one COM port onboard.  There is another one included in the box, but you have to install it yourself, and you'll lose a slot (in addition to the 3rd and 4th USB ports if you choose to install those).  I can't think of a reason why they would do this, but they did... Most ATX cases have openings for two COM ports.. Weird

The Manual

Like most Asus boards, a well written and concisive manual is included.  It is well documented with pictures and clear diagrams to help you along with installation.  Also included is a nifty little "Asus Inside" case sticker (wouldn't you love to see a hardCOREware case sticker?)

In conclusion, I LOVE this board, and I would recommend it to anyone building a PC based on a Socket 370 chip (Flip Chip P3's and Celeron II's, as well as the older Celerons).  You'll have a fast stable board, AGP pro when you need it, a ton of overclocking options (including software FSB setting) and all the goodies you want, for a very acceptable price.  Asus does it again!

  • Rock Solid, like most Apollo Pro 133a boards
  • TONS of FSB settings to play with in the BIOS
  • "True" 133 MHz support with a 1/2 AGP divider
  • Integrated ATA/66 support that really works
  • AGP 4x, Fast Writes
  • AGP Pro, when we need it
  • Ability to use PC100 RAM with a 133 MHz FSB
  • Awesome price (down to around $100)
  • It's Fast!

  • RAM is still slightly slower than a BX board
  • Only one COM port is onboard
  • Slow bootup

Final Score: 95%
