The Test

We're going to simplify things a bit, and only show one other motherboard in these results. To show that the NF4 Standard is just as fast as a board using the NF4 SLI chipset (which costs manufacturers much more), we're going to contrast the Infinity against Abit's award-winning AN8 SLI motherboard. If you want to see more, we did use the Infinity board in a prior review, where it was benchmarked against ECS' intriguing PF88 Extreme Hybrid.

The systems were set up as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+ Venice Core 1.8 GHz 512K L2 Cache
Memory: 1GB Kingston HyperX 3-4-4-8 1T Timing
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT w/ 78.01 drivers
Hard Drive: Western Digital Raptor SATA 36GB
NF4 Motherboard: DFI Infinity NF4 w/ NF4 AMD Edition Software 6.66

Memory Bandwidth Test

We always start with a memory bandwidth test in our motherboard reviews. However with the memory controller integrated on the CPU, this test is less important on AMD motherboards.

As expected, results are nearly identical.
