The Test
Knowing the SiS chipset isn't exactly a high end solution, it would be unfair to put this board up against the likes of an NF4 Ultra or Intel 955X. Therefore, we are comparing it to mid-range solutions; the NF4 Standard, and Intel 945G. Chipset means less on the AMD platform anyhow, as the memory controller is on the Athlon64 CPU itself. We also used mid-range processors, and a mid-to-high range video card. AMD Setup: CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+ Venice Core 1.8 GHz 512K L2 Cache Intel Setup: CPU: Intel Pentium 4 520 2.8 GHz Memory Bandwidth Test
As always, we'll start off with the Memory Bandwidth Test from the latest version of SiSoft Sandra. Look for more of a difference in performance on the Intel side, as the AMD should be close to identical due to the memory controller on the CPU. As most people would suspect, the AMD platforms perform the same, while the PF88 lags a little behind Intel's solution. Next Page: (PCMark 05; CineBench 2003)
