See No Evil

Instead of what has become the almost standard side window, Gigabyte has opted instead for a black honeycomb style grill.

Now if you've read any of my previous case reviews, you know I'm not a giant fan of side windows, especially the big oversized ones that not only let you see the internal lighting etc, but also all of the ugly areas that you'd rather hide. I've always thought that a nice EMI shielded grill is the perfect blend of sleek lines and the bling-bling.

Also notice the second lock on the side panel ensuring that your "smart" buddies won't bypass the front lock and simply remove your hard drive to get at your stuff. The panel itself is very easily removed when unlocked by simply pulling the handle forward which pops it outward ready to pull off.

Off with his panel!

Taking off the side panel we are greeted with some nice internals

The first item of note is the three included 120mm fans.  All a blue LED fans with one on the front and two on the back. Traditionally having two exhaust and only a single intake would seem like a bad idea, but with the ability to draw fresh air through the side grill this setup actually functions quite well.

Right away I also noticed the great job Gigabyte did on managing the power cables which are run through a single sheathed header over to the back side of the case secured with cable clips along the way. Though a small gesture, this type of detail is scores big points and is a great example of Gigabytes in depth research into the needs of their market.

Push and Click

The exposed drive bays use the same push and click mechanism that we first saw used a couple years back on the Guardian.

Once a drive is inserted into the bay, simply push the plastic retention bracket forward and then push the little thumb button down to lock it into place.
