Half Life 2

I'll be honest with you; Steam makes it a bit of a pain to benchmark Half Life 2. Unlike Doom 3 or UT2K4, I can't just keep a directory on my test hard drive... Steam has to be installed, and connected to over the internet, and then Half Life 2 has to be installed.

However, the fact that the Source engine is so widely used by games like Counter Strike: Source and upcoming Valve games makes these benchmarks quite important.

As you can see, Half Life 2 doesn't really benefit from huge amounts of fillrate. However, the ATI cards are clearly better performers in this engine.

With filtering enabled, the midrange cards just fall off the map. However, the 12 pipe X800 is definitely up to the task! This doesn't come as much of a surprize, knowing ATI's close relationship with Valve.
