Multi-Purpose Desktop

It's clear that peripheral companies are always looking for ways to separate themselves from the competition. One way of doing that is having a robust product, with a lot of high end features. We saw this with the MX 3100 Cordless Desktop we reviewed last month. Featuring the MX-1000 laser optical mouse, the MX 3100 is a great solution for users with high end desktop systems.

But what if you're looking for something completely different? What if you're in a niche and don't quite know it yet? Are you using a huge IBM keyboard on your compact notebook when using it at home? How about that keyboard taking up all the room on your coffee table in your home theatre?

Logitech has introduced the diNovo Cordless Desktop hoping to fill one or more of these niches. They had a version supporting Bluetooth already, but this one uses standard RF, which saves about $100 on the sticker price.

At first glance, you might notice that the mouse is identical to Logitech's "Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks". And if you look closer, you'll notice the keyboard itself looks a lot like that of a Notebook.

The diNovo is built just like Notebook keyboards; it uses thin, light keys instead of the bulky ones you may be used to seeing on a desktop keyboard. However, unlike most notebooks, the diNovo is 100% full sized; the ctrl, delete, enter, backspace, and arrow buttons are all exactly where they should be. You might be wondering where the keypad is though...

The keypad consists of a separate module that matches up with the keyboard portion exactly. When put together, the components look like a single keyboard. And a nice looking one at that:

That is, until you decide to flip the tabs up on the keyboard; the keypad does not have tabs.

Let's look a little closer...
