Even though all of the Lanparty boards feature Gigabit Ethernet (and in the case of the 9xx boards, they have dual controllers), the integration is done differently on the two generation of boards.

The 9xx boards carry one GigaE controller on the PCI-E bus, and one on the PCI bus, while the 875P boards only have PCI based GigaE controllers. To avoid redundancy, we only tested the PCI-E controllers on the 9xx boards:

As you can see, GigaE can make use of more bandwidth than the PCI bus can provide. Moving it over to the PCI-E bus allows it to perform to its potential. Of course, you will suffer a major CPU usage penalty at the same time. This is why we like to see boards use the PCI-E bus for GigaE controllers when possible.
