The Test

Now don't expect these boards to differ too much in terms of performance. They are all using the fastest chipset available today, so there isn't a lot of headroom for tweaking by the manufacturers. It's the 915 and 865 type chipsets where we can really see performance range.

Our test system consisted of:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 560 (Prescott 3.4 GHz)
Memory: Corsair XMS2 Pro PC5400 (running at stock levels though) 4-4-4-12
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT PCI-E
HDD: Seagate 7200 RPM 120GB SATA
OS: Windows XP with SP2

All the latest drivers, etc were used, including SP2 for Windows XP.

Memory Performance

Talk about starting things off with a bang! Okay, maybe not... Scores are virtually identical across the board, thanks to the lack of tweaking done by the manufacturers. It is odd to see that low score on the Gigabyte board in PCMark 04, but it passed the other tests, so that must have been an anomaly.
