However, at the same time, we run into the first problem with the Hornet. While you can easily fit most heatsinks inside the case, the removable motherboard tray has a low clearance and your heatsink might not allow for the tray to be pushed back in.  Keep in mind that the Aeroflow is one of the lower profile heatsinks on the market. A SLK-900U with a Tornado would definetely not fit in here. In addition to this, the top of the case is not removable so forget any hope of bypassing the mobo tray.

I'm happy to report, though, that all AGP and PCI cards have more than enough clearance and are not restricted by the mobo tray in any way.

On the front are 4 USB ports and audio (mic, headphones) outputs. The cables leading to the motherboard are sheathed in black vinyl and are long enough to allow the motherboard tray to be pulled out, not all the way but far enough to allow access to the processor and RAM. Once again we see the growing, annoying trend of giving each wire it's own connection, forcing you to break out the manual, find out the labels don't match and then make a guess on how it all works. For the love of god, will someone please make a standard one and STICK WITH IT!?

Dual front mounted temperature displays show you how hot the area where you put the flat thermistors are in large, easily readable numbers. While these are pretty useful, they're also pretty ugly. You can find these easily at any Radio Shack. I wish Monarch would have put a little more thought into this one as it is an easily correctable situation. A blue-backlit temperature readout similar to that seen on Aspire's X-Superalien would have been more elegant.
