Vantec Stealth 420W

The Stealth is another sweet looking power supply. The black aluminum case is totally slick, and in a full black tower would look really cool. Don't forget, this is where the 'stealth' name comes from, NOT the sound levels (which we'll get to later).

The Stealth is the only PSU in this roundup with an external AC output. This is perfect for monitors or speakers or whatever. You can also see the fan speed controller, which has 3 speeds. Unlike the Thermaltake PSU, which controls only one of the two fans, the Stealth allows control over all three fans.

Yep, three.

I guess the idea is to have 3 fans all spinning at a quiet level to keep things cool, rather than a single 'silent' one that is only silent until the PC has a chance to heat up.

I found this funny for some reason: A big sticker on the front of the box (and listed as a special feature on Vantec's site) proudly proclaims the Stealth as "SATA Ready!!" (note the two exlamation points)

Well technically this makes it SATA Ready, but I don't think it's worthy of TWO exlamation points. I don't know which is worse; having one inline SATA connector, but no spares, or having 2 spares and featuring it prominently on the box...

Let's find out how these PSU's performed.
