The Contenders

First of all, let's have a look at what we'll be doing our testing on.

800 FSB CPU - Pentium 4 3.0C GHz
533 FSB CPU - Pentium 4 3.06 GHz

Video Card - ATI Radeon 9700 PRO

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda IV ATA100 7200 RPM 80GB

RDRAM Memory - 2 x 256MB Samsung PC1066
DDR Memory - 2 x 256MB Kingston KingMax DDR400

KingMax is Kingston's "basic" line of DDR Ram.  While it isn't geared towards insane overclocking like the PC3500 HyperX we reviewed a while back, it is very solid.  The same ram was used in all DDR platform tests.
