Blizzard (

One of the foremost houses in the RTS genre makes their leap to massively multiplayer this year with World of Warcraft.  Obviously set in the vivid Warcraft universe, you'll be able to traverse Azeroth and other settings.  Familiar heroes will make appearances and the game is backed by a great 3D engine.  A release date has not been set.

Warcraft III fans will be pleased to know that an expansion pack is on the way for summer 2003.  WCIII: The Frozen Throne will follow Arthas and the Night Elf Illidan as they travel to the Icecrown glacier.  New units will be introduced and players will be able to build shops that sell new ablities and spells.  I'm not too sure what to make of that one.  Each race will get a new hero and there will be a recruitable group of neutral mercenary heroes.

Blizzard is also working on another game set in the Starcraft universe, titled Ghost, but it will be a console thing, much to our disappointment.

Day of Defeat (

Before Battlefield 1942, most of us got our WWII fix from Day of Defeat.  After the version 2.0 patch though, I found the game slightly less interesting.  However, I will most definetly give it another go when it is once again improved and released in retail stores.  Gonna smack some people around with my shovel!

America's Army (

While we're talking about war, the US Army was at E3 in full force.  You could hardly walk 10 feet without seeing these guys.  A couple real military Hummers would roam the streets while soldiers in full uniforms would walk around the floor.  One guy, in fact, walked around with this thing, which I'm sure rstarr can tell me more about.  It's like a RC car with rockets.
