They also discussed nForce2 400 Ultra, as well as the nForce3Pro chipset for the Opteron.  I'm still waiting for nForce3Ultra for Athlon64, but they don't have any details on it yet, though I DID ask.  The guy who was there is a chipset guy, and he didn't know.  I also asked him if they would ever develop Intel chipsets.  He told me that they might consider it, since licensing shouldn't be a problem. However, he also said that their main focus is on the AMD platforms, and they want to achieve dominance their first before branching out into Intel chipsets.  NVIDIA is also thinking that DirectX is going to stay pretty stable at version 9, and that the next "big thing" for video technology is probably at least a couple of years away or more at this point.

They also addressed some of their image quality woes.  As you know, ATI has been leading NVIDIA in image quality for quite a while.  NVIDIA has just established a new lab with a new staff, and their SOLE purpose is to study and address the improvement of video quality on NVIDIA chips.  That's a great idea and I applaud them for it, but I just wonder why they didn't have one before. After all, ATI's been leading in that area for a while now.


Next up was Corsair.  Anyone who is a fan of high performance memory has probably heard of Corsair.  The surprising thing for us was that their memory wasn't what they showed up to pitch (ok, not the ONLY thing, anyway). They did mention their strict design and testing methods for all of their memory types, but this was the cool thing:

Corsair is releasing a liquid cooling rig.  Called the HydroCool200, it's designed to work with both Intel and AMD processors, through the use of this water block.

It combines with a couple of retention adapters to be adapted to either Intel or AMD. Theoretically, using this method, it could be adapted to any socket size and type through the use of additional adapter blocks. 

It looks like an interesting device, and we're going to ask Corsair is they can send it, along with some RAM for testing.  It should make for nice icy-cold overclocking.
