Testing Results

Low Speed (1713rpm)
High Speed (5273rpm)

A 46C load temperature is more than I wanted to see so I decided that stress testing at 1300rpm is not a good idea.

So do I like the V11?  Unlike with the V9, I'm not torn or indecisive.  I just don't like it.  In the past few months, the bar has been raised and the Volcano 11 stumbles into it.  I really expected more from Thermaltake and while the V11 is definetly not a "bad" cooler, per say but it is not in the same league as the prominent kings of the ring that I reviewed a little while back.  I love the clip, the looks and the adjustable fan but those are all rather insignificant when performance is just average, maybe even mediocre.  Thermaltake creates an impressive package but falls short where it mattered most.  I can only hope that their next cooling packages show some more innovation.

If you must have the cool fan grill, buy the Volcano 11.  Otherwise, go find a Vantec Aeroflow or a Coolermaster X-Dream.

  • performance isn't... TOO bad
  • great looking grill
  • great looking rheostat and back PCI plate
  • fan is speed adjustable
  • solid mounting clip

  • performance isn't good either. Not as good as other great coolers.
  • more expensive than the Coolermaster X-Dream
  • soldered fins, while not automatically bad, are less reliable than skivved fins
