My Memory Ain't What it Used to Be

We've all heard about the ugly truth that is Apollo Pro 133's memory performance.  I really hate to break it to you, but if you look away quickly, it won't hurt so bad...

How's that for bad? Ugh... With the exact same RAM chips, CPU, and FSB, I was getting memory scores in the high 300's.  This was taken with SiSoft Sandra 2000 Standard.

I'm almost scared to ask about the AGP

We've also heard about the AGP problems that haunted the Apollo Pro 133 motherboards... First of all, they only offer up to AGP 2X (not that it really matters yet), and secondly, they were supposed to be overall real slow (like the RAM).

Well I'm glad to tell you that I had no such problems! In some quick Quake 3 tests, the VA6 performed very well, compared to both the Apollo Pro 133a and the Intel 440BX! Framerates with a GeForce DDR and P3 733 CPU were almost exactly the same across the board.  They were a touch slower with the memory latency, but it was pretty close all together.
