Have an urge to play one of the best first-person shooters ever created? It would be hard to argue against the fact that Quake 3 is one of the best controlling FPS games ever, and it’s back! And it plays from your browser (kinda)!
Quake Live has begun its open beta, meaning anyone can register and play for free.
There’s nothing new in the game itself, but the stats engine and leader board is really cool. I’ve been in the closed beta for a while, and I can now tell you that the game itself plays the same to me as it always has. It will even run fine on a laptop, something that can’t be said for many other games.
The unfortunate thing for me is that the game browser doesn’t include a ping display. So for players like myself living in Asia, we end up having to just take our chances and hope for a decent ping to a server in Australia. Unfortunately that never happened for me, so I just had to stop playing. Beta, folks! Let’s hope they add a ping display for the final release.
So what are you waiting for? Go check it out!
