The recent 3.50 firmware update added some cool streaming features to the PSP, but Shacknews tells us of a hidden feature of the firmware; for the first time, developers can run the PSP’s CPU at full speed.
Until now, the PSP would only clock up to 266 MHz for games, presumably to keep battery life reasonable (and many games run at only 222 MHz). But game developers have been asking Sony to let them run the unit at its full 333 MHz potential, and with the update, they can now. This only applies to games currently in development though, so don’t expect a speed increase (or battery life decrease) with the games you already have once you install the 3.50 firmware (although firmware hacks are out there that do allow clock speed increases in all games).

The only currently available game (at least in the US) that will run the CPU at 266MHz is “Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters”.
