For all the doubters, turns out we were right ;)

Tomorrow, Sony will release the 2.10 firmware for PS3, which adds Profile 1.1. To find out more about what this means, please read our original post on the subject.

DivX support is also going to be added, along with VC-1 WMV support. However, there are rumors that “DivX Support” doesn’t necessarily mean all-around “MPEG-4 Part 2″ support. In other words, it is possible that the PS3 ONLY supports the DivX MPEG-4 Part 2 codec, and no others. This includes the ubiquitous XviD codec. As it turns out, these rumors were totally untrue, and were spread by someone who doesn’t know how to use a PC.

Also added in the firmware is some whacky new voice changer thing, and enhanced music playback. Still no in-game XMB unfortunately.
