Duke Nukem Forever Screenshot

You’d think that after ten freakin’ years in production, they could give us a little more than this screenshot that surfaced yesterday. I’m not even sure what it really is. I sort of see some tentacles and some glowing bits of stuff. I tried doing the magic eye thing but that didn’t work either. Apparently no one told the developers that when they release screenshots…they should be of something.

In case you haven’t heard of Duke Nukem Forever, those of us who have been gaming on the PC for more than ten years know this game is the king of all vapourware. Originally announced in 1997, it’s become the butt of many industry jokes after switching game engines, storylines and developers countless times. Heck, before someone said otherwise earlier this year, I thought it had just crawled into some hole and died, hoping no one would remember this whole fiasco.

While the release date remain a cryptic “when it’s done”, some believe the game is nearing completion and should be released this year if not next year. Either way, I don’t see this ending well for ol’ Duke and the franchise had so much personality in so many great games, it deserved better. Games that are delayed for a few years already end up being outdated and lame. I mean, anyone remember Daikatana?
