With all the "World peace" or "some food, or a warm place to live" answers, I feel like I'm watching a beauty pageant or something.
I'll be the greedy one though. I got a new desktop for Christmas ![]() It was a joint gift from my sister, sisters bf, parents and gf. They all gave me money so I put it together and bought it at cost from a friends local computer store. Basic Overview -E7200 C2D -8gb ram -512mb 9600GT video -320gb SATA -22" acer widescreen.

Meh, a friend of mine bought one for his wife and I wasn't particularly drawn to it. Something about the new style just puts me off.

I like the new macbook pro's. I really wouldn't bother with a regular macbook. its just not really worth it to me (I'm not crazy in love with the OS, and the hardware can be matched for much cheaper)
The macbook pro's only feature I like is the screen and dual video cards.

Yeah you could buy a PC with twice the specs for half the price, but their not a single piece of metal, usually cheap ass plastic, and they don't include the only trackpad id even THINK about switching to. I despise trackpads, im a nub guy myself, but the macbooks is so big and works so well.. not to mention the gestures seem like a real time saver..
God I sound like a fanboi. /me goes to wash out his mouth and apologizes for the thread jack |

As nice as the new structure is. I've had laptops for the last 10 years and none have "broken" physically on me. my dell now is about 2/3 years old. i've dropped it killing the HDD. carried it around the country when traveling etc.. and no issues with its physical construction. The only advantage I see is it should be cheaper and easier to make, and be more recyclable. there have been mouse gestures for years. I tried them, and didn't like them. i'm more of a keyboard guy anyways, so I doubt it would make a difference to me in the long run. So I guess that means I'm not a fanboy sucking on the apple teat. Eh, my thinkpads corner is cracked by where the HDD slides in at from a fall, the actual unit is fantastic, but just looking at some of the plastic with the laptops we have around here, they all just seem cheap. I shouldnt be able to bend the base of a laptop with my hands dammit!
