Default xp pro vs. home

i had a bit of trouble with my xp pro installations, as one disk couldnt install sp1, since it was pre-sp1. the second disk's "modifier" probably screwed up the setup, so it couldnt load my sata driver. so i am now using home, cause i didnt want to wait for a supplier. xp pro has more features, but is there an actual performance edge of pro over home? im not worried about the network shortcomings of xp home, as college is still more than a year and a half from me, so by that time ill be able to get xp pro again.

Performance wise? There is no difference. It's all in features.

hell, come to think of it, wont longhorn be out by middle of 2006, might as well "aquire" that. guess my new question is, longhorn will be 64 bit right? i dont see a reason why it shouldnt be, but who knows. if i get 64 bit, ill probably sell my system and get a dual core a64. saw a bench of an engineering sample at 2.4 and it owned everything in a content creation benchmark, although who knows if it will benefit gaming much, as apparently whoever made that review, didnt spend a lot of time on benchmarking, wonder if they violated any amd policy by even making the review. probably not.

MS is offering a free download of it's 64-bit OS in trial version right now. Not for sure if it's still available. I downloaded it right away.

Linky

I also moved this to the proper forum.

I think the main difference between home and pro is dual processer support for pro

Chances are, pro will do nothing more for you than home that you can't do some other way or don't need.
