Cool

Hey guys,

Once again TheMaker is back with another problem

Now that I have the pesky shutdown thing fixed ... I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to fix this one.

When I used to use "windowsupdate", to automatically add new files and such it would scan my system then present me with a list of options.

Well, after the mobo swap and fresh install of Win98SE (which includes IE 5.5), whenever I try to use Windows Update it now says:

Windows Update

You have an older version of Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools. If you would like to download additional components from the Windows Update catalog, you must first upgrade to the latest version. Install Now.

Needless to say I have already reinstalled IE and I know its 5.5, so its ALREADY newer than version 5.0 ... Or am I missing something.

Is this some new form of Microsoft math or something???

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

TIA

BTW: I already searched the Knowledgebase at www.microsoft.com. No such luck there either.

I don't know if this will help, but my version of Win98SE comes with Internet Explorer 5.0. Do you have a different revision, or are you sure it's 5.5???

Go directly to Windows Update.
Is anything different when you browse there instead of using a bookmark?
