since your excited, a primer of the technologies would be cool. Speeds, # of controllers, etc, and what it all means and costs.

SSD in a PS3 or XBOX would be an AWESOME test to see also. I'd love to see the affect on load times of 3 different popular games.

SSDs have been added to the PS3 by several people, but it seems that there is no advantage. Most likely sony limits transfer speeds for consistency.
Here's one link: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vide...a-SSD-in-a-PS3 The 360 would be interesting but would be difficult because the drives use a modified firmware, most HDD mods for 360s involve using hardware exactly the same as MS uses.

Interesting, I actually expect there might not be a difference, since the read should be mostly sequential which is what HDD excel at the best and SSD's the worst.

Hey LL, I highly doubt you've had any time to even think about SSD's yet but.... Any plans to do a review soon? Gotta ask because i'm real close to making an SSD purchase.

Wow, so I had been lookign to get the Intel 80GB Gen2SSD. Seems like newegg gets a shipment every week or so, and it literally sells out within minutes. Each time the price bumps up 10-20 bucks, and limit 1 per customer. Talk about demand outstripping supply. This is digital crack right now.
Based on what I'm reading from peoples opinions and the current prices, I'd expect a year from now that it would be commonplace (but not yet standard) to have most hardcore PCs built with 2 drives, 1 OS/SSD and then a large slow cheap HDD for file storage. Someone will probably brand it "VistaZoom" or "Windows 7 with Double-Drive Technology ". |

I was reading about the OCZ offerings in the newest edition of CPU (only magizine in canada I think is worth a damn) and they actually really like it compared to the intel; It's not as fast (nothing is thus far) but it's much cheaper cost per gb according to their review.
I'd take a look at those if you're having a hard time getting the intel.
