Default SATA probs

Hi Guys

I have a gigabyte board with intel 875p chipset with onboard sata.

I have an 80gb seagate ide and an IBM 60gb. I purchased a Maxtor 120gb sata. Picked it up fine. XP booted from the 80gb. But I want to boot from the sata drive. My problem is this.

If I have the os on the primary ide..all boots fine and the sata is picked up. But when I tried to install the os onto the sata it wouldnt boot until I disconnected the standards ide drives.

Gigabyte say to update bios...done to the latest version.

Then it says to alter boot sequence..done..but it says if you have standard ide attached to set the hard drive to scsi..for boot. But since I installed the latest bios scsi is not available as a boot option.

So now..I have the sata drive installed..with xp on. But if i try to reconnect the 2 ide drives..the system hangs as it looks to the ides drives for the OS... but will boot str8 away from the sata drive if the ides are disconnected

Help!!!

All I want is the sata drive as the system drive..and the 2 ides as drives d and e.....?
