No, you can attach a SATA drive to a SAS controller but not vice-versa.

Thanks! Can you or anyone recommend a SAS controller card that will also have a external port out on the back? I have a Dell Precision WorkStation 670.

Century, 3.5-inch SATA / SAS hard disk drives, the sata docking station can accommodate three 3.5-inch SATA or Serial Attached SCSI hard drive bay tray in the two systems. The device also has built a powerful 6 cm silent cooling fan to keep frozen hard drive. It is the company came to its senses and decided to provide an eSATA functionality, its hard disk drive docking station, one of xAGE-N99-SAU/US.
