Actually if you look up his computer, it comes with 512 mbs ram, and a 160 gig HDD. So I believe he ment that his hard drive had 148 gigs....

According to the specs, the PC should have enough power to do the encoding. I seriously just suggest trying like AVI2DVD or some other program.

I myself use sonic myDVD, I've found it works pretty well (but it's not free )

Well good news guys I finally got it working, what I had to do was restart in safe mode and delete all my dc/dvd drives then retart and let windows locate them and re-install, also I rebooted and restore the default settings, I ended up asking someone who works on computers in my area, but I just wanted to let you all know how it worked out and that I appreciate everyone contributing to the issue and I think this site is a great thing for alot of people and its great how much knowlege everyone on here has, thanks again
