Hi guys, I have posted my latest in the annual objective comparison series. 4200 words of awesomeness here! No, it won't tell you which console to buy. The goal was rather to inform people enough that they can make that decision themselves.

Hopefully it will bring you some traffic. It's been very obvious to me for a while that both systems are very similar and the exclusives are really the only things that set them apart.
As a side note, I'm taking a class where we're writing programs for a small cluster of Cell CPU boards and that thing is very difficult to write programs for that perform well. There is a lot of potential there but it's not really the best thing for programs like games. I doubt we will ever see any games that will ever really take advantage of the entire potential of the Cell. because it's specialized for large datasets with many calculations occurring at once. Great for supercomputers, not so much for games. I also didn't think it was a secret that the RSX is less powerful than Xenos. Sony just sorta slapped it in at the last second because the Cell didn't live up to expectations in the graphics department. The thing that strikes me most is that if I had the choice to write games for one or the other I would pick the 360 because the programming tools are top notch. Although I will probably end up buying a PS3 because there are no region lockouts to stop me from playing import games.

Aren't most gamemakers using a lot of middleware and licensed engines, therefore seperating the game writers from the hardware (mostly)?

Fucking retarded PS3 fanboys keep trying to say it's "anti PS3" because of one tiny little part that mentions the fact that the GPU is weaker. Right before I go on to say that comparing graphics is not what the article is about. Even though at the end, I offer one subjective opinion, and that is that I prefer to play games on the PS3.
What is wrong with this world?

Silly Question:
Is there any reliable information out there about what kind of money is being made/lost buy either Sony/MS by their enitre gaming divisions? Just curious if it's about equal or not. |

Oh goodness, I just tried to read some of the posts in the comments section... my head hurts now....
As for money being made/lost, I've only got information about PS3 hardware but evidently Sony is still losing about $50 per console sold.

I got both and I'm still happy with my choice. Like i said a long time ago; you can argue against points in both systems, but its comes down to what you do, and what you want to play (exclusives).
Anyone out there still in the "console war" trench needs to come home.
