From the "Only in Asia" file
I present to you: Milkis
It is a Korean product, seems to be a copy of Calpis Soda out of Japan (man those Koreans just wish they were Japanese, don't they? ;)) It's a carbonated milk beverage... Not something you would think of every day, but it's actually quite tasty! I suggest you check out an Asian supermarket and pick up a can if you see it. Most likely you'll see the original "Calpis Water" which is a non-carbonated milk beverage, or "Calpis Soda" which is basically what Milkis copied, except Calpis Soda has no sugar added. Yummy! |
Got to love the botched english...
|
hahahha, carbonated? sounds like it could be good.
|
I think we have that stuff at Yaohan, right LL?
|
one thing that I remmeber vividly about asia was that there are like 8001 different brand names of bottled water.... each one professing on the label how superior it is to all its competitors. ITS FREAKIN WATER!!!
|
Yeah Calpis water and Calpis soda are both available at Yaohan for like $5 a bottle... It's gone on sale before though...

The never ending choices eh? Yeah right! They're all the same, or they're all crap... for example, Coke's Dasani brand tastes nothing like water... more like something that could have come from a sewer in the Coke plant. :gun: Dasani... I'll stick with iced tea, and enjoy my milk products every day as well. It's all part of a balanced meal plan... lol. :righton:
|
hey, what does "lotte" mean? we have lotte everything here, lotte plaza... yea thats it, but still, what does it mean?
|
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Dasani is nasty...My tap water is far superior.
|
Dasani tastes like any other bottled water.
|
Lotte's a company. From the pic and what I've seen, they make drinks/ice cream bars/candy .. well stuff you'd see at convenience stores, I wouldn't be surprised to see their name on a plaza.
And all bottled water tastes the same. Evian is just naive backwards. |
Actually Lotte is a japanese company I think.. I guess I was wrong - this is just canned in Korea, probably for the Asian market outside Japan.
It's still a ripoff of Calpis Water though  |
You guys mean you can't taste the difference between dasani and any other brand? I find it tastes slightly of minerals, it bugs my throat anyway. Maybe they use different water sources for selling in Canada?
|
I got Calpic Soda in Indo with mark "Calpico". And thousands brands unregistered. You may see the registration if buy something in asia. If has no code about becarefull, it cant be the same as the ingredients they put.
A brand of empower drink like "Kratingdaeng" You can feel high pulse of heart, once you drink. They have registration, but still put higher content of coffee. How about with unregistrated? |

But Dasani isn't mineralized, and it does taste like any other non mineralized water to me. It's probably different in Canada... It's probably Canadian tap water as opposed to American tap water  |
Mm.. CC Lemon :)
|
ll: my tap water is quite good
noni: what do you mean unregistered brand? Like bootleg products? cd's are one thing, food..um, no pirated food/drink for me :) You can feel your pulse increase when you drink "Kratingdaeng"? Probably liquid caffene with sugar and water :D |
my tap water comes from a natural spring and in comparison most bottled water tastes like shit
