well, he isn't getting to that point in the boot process where he should do that... but yes, maybe the psu has gone bad or something... that should be enough wattage...

heres an idea. make sure you have enough screws holding your mobo down in the case -- I know sounds stupid, but a few times, I slacked off and didn't put enough in and it wouldn't boot. check to make sure when you press down in the middle of it is doesn't give way. if it does add a screw or stand.

He has gotten into the BIOS once, if he gets in again he can change it, or it could be jumpered on the board.

He already tried the mobo out of the case, so the screw problem is moot.

I think he got his answers from the VIA Arena Forums. I just browsed there

Anyways, one board was DOA and the other one worked by taking it out of the box and connecting everything on a table or something. So it's a connector's problem I guess

If he is positive that everything is connected right, positive lead to positive pin, etc etc, they could be bad motherboards.

I had 6 bad ASUS boards before they found a good one that worked.

Very rare, but it does happen.

Do you have a spare motherboard laying around or can borrow one? If so, try connecting your equipment to that board.

I have had the same issue with two MB's. Upgraded my system and put my old MB and CPU, 9550, in a new case and no post, it was a Biostar. Bought a new XFX 8200 and have tried 2 PSU's, different memory, tested CPU in my new system, used 4gig from my system and no post. Driving me up a wall, thinking case is bad or maybe getting an witch doctor to perform and exorcism! Swapping MB today so time will tell. Anyone ever heard of a bad case?

The case can't be bad, it's a block of metal, but the power switch can be. In order to test for this you have to (very carefully) momentarily bridge the gap between the two power switch pins on the motherboard. I use a very small screwdriver to do this but any small steel tool will work.

There are a lot of other things that could be wrong but this would be better discussed in a new thread.
