No BF3 thread?

First video game Ive played in about 8 months, and it might get me back into it.

I wasnt sure if it would run well on my system, and they dont offer a demo, so I torrented it and played thru the campaign. It played well, but my TV only goes up to 1360x768, so that helps.

I think multiplayer with 64 players would strain it a little more, but I think I'll still buy it.

Anyone else get it? Im debating on getting a dvd hardcopy vs just downloading thru origin as well. Probably get a hardcopy, they can be had on amazon a little cheaper than retail.

A friend of mine got it and says he is really enjoying it.

I'm just bored with shooters, especially military themed, personally. I'll probably get it when I see the price drop or on sale.

Looking at videos of people playing it, I will say I am impressed by the graphics.

Yeah, I agree on the boring part. COD pretty much ruined the military shooter thing. And the single player part of BF3 is way too COD'y. A guy in a chair being interrogated by his superiors making the story. I got through it on normal difficulty in about 8 hours.

But the thing that always has set BF apart from COD is obviously multiplayer. You just cant get the large scale battles in anything else, especially COD.

All my friends are getting/got it on PS3. Consoles are limited to 24 players, and the maps are shrunk down. That pretty much ruins it for me... PC or nothing for this.

I don't play multiplayer anymore, and since I heard the single player campaign is weak, I am not bothering until it is on sale for like $15 or less

I thought it looked good... but I am waiting for the new COD so i'm most likely gonna pass on this one.

I'm actually grabbing it as we speak. Our systems are pretty close (I actually have a 5770 in mine now)... we'll see how it handles it.

Don't bother with Origin, service is a total piece of shit. They charged my buddy's credit card 3 times for some reason.

I really wanna grab it but Im being discouraged by all the horror stories Im reading about Origin, which is required to play whether you have a hardcopy or a download... like Steam but loaded with spyware...etc...

I like Steam now a lot. Great way to find free demos and the sales are just ridiculously awesome sometimes. (75% off??)

I dig steam too, I played online for a bit, runs everything at High without a hitch at 1650x1080. You should be fine.

Origin is a POS.
