Angry NO BEEP AT POST...

NO BEEP AT POST...
just the gentle whirr of ten fans.

All LEDs on my Asus a7v266-e are lit.

All fans are on just no post...

I examined the AMD 1800 XP CPU and it looks fine...

This all started when i installed a zip drive.

Please tell me something good besides. Dude your cpu or board is fried. And if that is the case, how can I tell which it is???

I have accepted that something is broke...

I have identified that it isn't the graphics card.

is swapping the cpu to a different system to test it the next step?

is there some other way I can test the mobo and cpu?

Did you try removing the ZIP drive?

make sure that all your cards are still seated properly in thier slots, and none of you cables are half off. You could also check you RAM and see if it is still in the slot(s), but once it is in I don't see how it could come loose.

i pulled off all the ide's to try to just get a basic bios screen and if the ram is loose or not in straight it does one loud beep i think...

thanks for the help, but i think that my cpu fan slipped and left a corner of the cpu exposed and it died.

i cleaned all the artic silver off and one side has a patch of discoloration next to the cpu.
