Default GUIDE: Fix a Stuck Pixel

Steps
Turn off your computer.

Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you don't scratch your screen.

Apply pressure to the area where the dead pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more dead pixels.

While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.

Remove pressure and the dead pixel should be gone. This works as the liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel. This liquid is used with the backlight on your monitor, allowing different amounts of light through which give off different colours.

Holy crap, that sounded like bullshia, but it did work. Well, mostly I guess. I had 2 near each other -- it got rid of one, but not the other. Still pretty nice.

I didn't do the "turn off your computer" part, because I don't see how that matters. I did turn off the monitor though.

If that works then it begs the question of why the heck hasn't anyone figured that out before?

I've herd that a STUCK pixal (all white) is usually fixable by rubbing the screen around the area...dunno how true that is (It was in a popular mechanics magazine)

Note, STUCK not DEAD. And even so only works sometimes, depending on the cause for the stuck pixel(s) in the first place.

You are all very welcome.

I'm going to stick to my policy of not accepting anything but flawless LCDs and bitching out the sales people until they accept my return.
