Holy crap, that sounded like bullshia, but it did work. Well, mostly I guess. I had 2 near each other -- it got rid of one, but not the other. Still pretty nice.
I didn't do the "turn off your computer" part, because I don't see how that matters. I did turn off the monitor though.

I've herd that a STUCK pixal (all white) is usually fixable by rubbing the screen around the area...dunno how true that is (It was in a popular mechanics magazine)

Note, STUCK not DEAD. And even so only works sometimes, depending on the cause for the stuck pixel(s) in the first place.
