Got my first speeding ticket.

So this cop on a motorcycle pulls me over.

He asks me, "Can you tell me why you were going 85mph in the rain"

and i replied, "you know damned well i was going 110!"

ok maybe i didnt say that but i did tell him my speedometer doesnt work, and he said it might have been a hint i was traveling too fast when i got into the slow lane to pass up 4 cars in the fast lane.

Since this is my frst ticket, has any of you ever got one? can you enlighten me on how the whole process goes when i go to court january 5th? THANKS!

you go to court... make sure to wear brown pants so they don't see you've pooped your pants when they tell you your insurance is going up, and you pray t4he cop doesn't show up

PAY IT!!! The Court date is just a formality now days. Your best bet is pay the damn thing.
Expecially in Cali... Up here 1 state north they only
give you a court date as a formatlity.
(Basicly so you can walk in and judge say's your guilty pay up)
Then you have to talk to the county clerk and try and pay the ticket. If you can't pay it all they alot of the
time will break it into 2 or 3 payments. But any more then that... Kiss your Licence good bye.

reckless?
i got a reckless, 70/45, court date is 3/15/04.
tickets are a big thing in VA, max is $2500 and 2 yr license suspension.

like eagle shadow said..the court is really only if you want to appeal..sometimes u can take ur chances and hope the cop doesnt show in which case you'll most likely win..but i say just pay it, if your over 18 you can mail it in

Pay it. And be more careful next time - the points add up! I was in constant danger of losing my license during highschool from frequent speeding tickets. Keep your speeding within range. It's generally OK to go a small percentage over the other vehicles, but not too much. Then you stick out and you'll get singled out by a copper.

Pay it. If you try and fight it it'll cost you more and you'll still have to pay it plus.

I agree, just pay it and forget it. No offense but 85 in the rain isn't all too bright either.

rain = barely sprinkling at that time.

and what do you mean just pay it? it says I have to appear at supiorer court on that date. is their an alternative to just paying the fine? i think i forgot to mention i had no insurance at the time.
