I like the X personally, much more time saving, not as fast as ctrl w though. also theres an about:config hack to change it, or even a tab extension some where.

as for the alt+s, I think that was solved earlier.

The great thing about FF is if something doesnt work the way you want it, chances are you can change it how youd want it to work

HOWTO: Remove "stupid" red X

Open new tab and type "about:config"
edit this entry: "browswer.tabs.closeButtons"
double click number under value (default = 1)
set to "0"

All done!

To be honest, I have no issues with accidentally clicking it, or have any trouble with clicking it when i need to. I can zoom the mouse to the "x" as easily as the tab and middle click.

Guess its all in how accurate you are with a mouse. I normally use ctrl-w/cltr-f4 to close tabs if my hand isn't on the mouse anyways.

God I love this thread, comes in handy every time I install Firefox! Some of the default settings are just retarded.

While we are reviving old threads, has anyone else here used google browser sync? It allows you to share bookmarks, cookies and various other things between different computers. I love being able to synchronize my browser between my desktop and notebook without doing any work.

Installed FireFox again, going to post this for future reference:

If you want your ALT+S back, try the following:
- enter this adress into your adress-bar:
about:config

- find this entry:
ui.key.contentAccess

alter its value to 4, now you're done :-)
