I think its an interesting but unnecessary idea. The people usually worthy of your respect have little reason to need a measuring device to show other people how awesome everyone on the forum. It may add another "element" to the forum, but it can also add a lot of issues that moderators don't need to waste their time on.

If LL turns it on, some jackass may go to an old thread and start giving negative rep to a thread that hasnt been used in the 3 years. or for hot topics like the console or political debates, negative reps can be thrown out for opinions/discussions that clash with that users level of thought. Then LL or jenious need to adjust the rep level because it was unfairly lowered by vote (it makes sense, trust me).

I kinda like it without that whole system. If you respect someone, you send them a PM. If you disagree, same thing. Maintains a certain level of humility IMO.

You know what I liked about the Reputation system? It was like hotlinks to the really funny shit that happens. When something was note-worthy, someone bumped a rep.
