ASUS P4S533-X USB problems...

I would appreciate anything that could help me here. Just built a new pc for my girlfriend and everything works just fine on it. However, bit of a brainbuster for me (been a while since I built one from scratch). She has an optical logitech mouse that uses USB. No problem I thought. The thing is, if the USB mouse is plugged in (either front or rear USB ports) the sound does not work. I checked under the properties for the computer and there are no yellow flags of any kind. So, I unplugged the mouse and rebooted. Sound works just fine. Then I plugged the mouse in and the sound continues to operate normally, AOK, just fine. Rebooted with the mouse still plugged in, and the same thing happened again. No sound. Any thoughts.....

What OS? If its XP theres a USB update at Windows Update. If you haven't already try that. Also check Asus for any updates.
Onboard sound? Check Asus again for an updated driver.
While you're there see if theres a BIOS update that addresses this problem.

If nothing else use the usb/ps2 adapter that came with the mouse and use the PS2 port.

Yeah, the adapter is the route that Im going with. Im just buzzlefumbed about it tho. Kinda freaked me out. I dont remember seeing anything on Asus website addressing this problem, so hopefully the adapter will take care of the problem. Now if my girlfriend can find it (sometimes women can lose everything). Oh well.

I don't use USB mouse or keyboards without the adapters. I have USB I just don't use it for that. To many problems no matter what OS you have. Especially if you want to go into the BIOS or something. A lot of times USB devices just don't work at all until the OS loads.
