I cannot get my ASUS P4C800 Deluxe m/b to detect either my WD360 Raptor SATA drive or a standard (Quantum Fireball) IDE drive inside a Lian-Li Parallel IDE - SATA mobile drive rack.
System config below. Enhanced mode support is set on and configured to SATA in the BIOS settings; I have tried unplugging the parallel drives (m/b should support parallel and SATA at same time) to no avail. The drives are not detected during the initial IDE drive scan. I have checked the ASUS site for BIOS updates but there is nothing relevant, nor in their technical posts that I can find. OS is Windows XP (Linux is coming on dual boot) but not relevant here methinks. Anyone got any clues? P4C800-E detects both. P4C800 Deluxe only detects one or the other. So says Falcon Northwest anyways.

Hi there kzinit1, thanks for the input; is there a ref. to that thread - I can't seem to find it...? SO does that mean the M/B doesn't do what it's supposed to (documentation definitely says it supports 4 parallel IDE and 2 SATA devices together with XP operating system - PLUS the RAID array on top...) - in which case I'll return it for something that does! Once again thaks for the leads.

That info was a personal reply from a Falcon Tech. I was asking them why they installed a P4C800 Deluxe in my comp. instead of the P4C800-E Deluxe I had ordered. It seems they install whatever they have laying around regardless of what you order!
They also informed me that they do not support overclocking. There was no reply when I asked why they were sponsoring 3DMark-2001. The bastards! |

Heh - Different continent, same ol' problems!
Think I'll just return the damn thing and get the 'E' version or the GA-8KNXP. |

PS - Don't buy ANYTHING from IdealComputing.co.uk either; they are shirty on the phone; they refuse to send me a replacement before I ship back the faulty motherboard - I can buy it but then they won't refund on the old one cos it's over 14 days old. NICE. How to win friends and market share!
