Default AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Review

We just published our review of the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition. As you can guess by the name, this CPU clearly has Intel’s Core 2 Quad Q9550 in its sights as a target.

If you think AMD doesn’t stand a chance at competing with a higher-end Core 2 Quad, think again. The new Phenom II’s are awesome, and in my opinion put AMD back on the map. You can read the review for full results.

The thing is, it doesn’t cost that much to upgrade to a Core i7 920 if you are building an entire system, and we all know that the Core i7 makes every other CPU look.. well, pathetic.

Check out the full review to find out who the Phenom II X4 955 is made for!

Nice review, and I would agree, not much of a point of going phenom/core 2 when i7 doesn't cost that much more, and the spanking gets only worse when you factor in how well i7 ocs. The new tri-cores though are awesome, especially since some can unlock into a quad. Btw, you had a typo on the first page, you mixed up ddr 2 and 3.

TBH I'd take a phenom/phenom II as an upgrade for my current system, but when it comes to building a new system from scratch a C2 or Ci7 would be the way to go. Intel have a great product on their hands and AMD are playing catchup.
