Default adding additional SATA drive??

ok. I have 1 true SATA srive that I have my OS installed on and then I have a regular IDE drive for storage. I have a SATA controller to convert the IDE drive to a SATA drive(I know there is no real performance boost but I want it for uniformity and the smaller SATA cable) but I dont know how to add it this way. I knwo when i initially installed my OS on the SATA drive I had to load additional drivers for the SATA to work (SIL 32). How do I do this for the second drive?? Also what is the best way to run this? IN a RAID 0 array or just as a second SATA drive?? I have a ABIT NF7-Sv2. MOBO with 2 SATA hookups. I did try just adding the controller and hooking it up but it didnt work. Any help on creating the best setup is appreciated. I have all the DATA saved already so Im not owrried about losing the info on my IDE drive. If anyone could help out with this it would be appreciated. Thanx

You already installed the drivers. Should be able to just hook it up.

what do you mean by "adding the controller"? is this new drive on a pci controller and not on the built in mobo?

Its and IDE HD but I have a SATA controller that converts it to a SATA hook up. WHen I just try adding it and restarting it freezes at the XP logo and does not post as seeing it. It will post seeing my 1 TRUE SATA drive but thats it.

even though I'll be using my 2nd SATA hookup on my board??? Currently I have 2 drives 1 true SATA and 1 IDE. I have the 1 TRUS SATA hooked up to the board via SATA and thata where my OS is. I am using a converter to make my IDE drive hook up as SATA. So they will both be hooked up via SATA hookups. My config now is 1 SATA hook up and 1 IDE hook up. Does this make sense?? DO you understand what Im trying to do?? Would it be easier just to set up a RAID ARRAY?? If so how do I go about doing that??

since you are using the sata controller for the new drive, you have to set the bios up as a second sata drive.
