That's a good one, nice Flunk!

YES

You are the man. It works fine with that player. It barely spikes up to 30% usage with that one.

Now what?

Both system clean and defrag have been performed recently.

Here's the full system specs.

ASUS A8V Deluxe
AMD FX-55
1 Gig OCZ DDR PC-4200 Dual Channel
NVidia GeForce FX5200
2 x 200GB S-ATA Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 running in RAID 0

And I'm not going to bother naming the rest of the stuff which is not really important to the performance. (monitor, DVD + CD burners, etc)

Ok, try disableing "DirectMedia Acelleration" or "Windows Media Acceleration" or a similar option in the nvidia drivers. I don't have a current nvidia card so I can't figure out what the option actually is. If you can't find it or that doesn't work uninstall the drivers you are using and install older ones (like the ones the card came with) and see if the problem disappears.
