Intel has provided us with some benchmarks of their dual- and quad-core 45nm Penryn processors. We normally aren’t to keen on posting furnished benchmarks, but Intel has a proven history of being spot on with their benchmarks in the past, so here you go (click for full size):

As you can see, it is smoking fast. Combined with yesterday’s release of the new GeForce 8500/8600 series, it is not a good time to be an AMD fanboy these days.
