It is rare for Nintendo to spill information on upcoming VC releases; any sneak peeks at each Monday’s new releases have come from speculation based on new ESRB ratings, or info from 3rd party publishers. The only other time they did this was before the release of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

But today, Nintendo let us know that their 100th Virtual Console game released for the US market this Monday will be none other than Zelda II: The Adventures of Link.

FINALLY.

Furthermore, Nintendo has released their top 5 selling VC games. Can you guess which series they come from? Here’s a hint; there are 4 Super Mario games on VC, and a couple Zelda games that are available ;)

Here you go:

  1. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
  2. Super Mario 64 (N64)
  3. Mario Kart 64 (N64)
  4. Super Mario World (SNES)
  5. The Legend of Zelda (NES)
