Hi

I have both the 360 and PS3 .. regarding COD3 on the 360 there are some slow downs as well , mainly when theres loads of smoke ,action and it makes aiming quite difficult , i have never played it on the PS2 thou.
Most Games do look and run better on the 360 , eg Brothers in Arms runs smooth using the XBOX so i downloaded the demo for the PS and it just did not look as smooth .

Im not a fan boy or any thing , i like both consoles the same .

I bought a PS3 thinking that it was going to be full HD and that my PC was weak because he did not handled games in 1080p. But now I know that even current consoles cannot process huge games in HD.

Though I think it would have been cool to get a so big resolution! Consoles are always behind PC in term of resolution.

Does it really matter whether a game runs at ridiculously high resolutions?

I would much rather a game to be a partical effects extravaganza, with amazing lighting and explosions - the kind of technilogical effects wizardry that makes you forget about resolutions and just makes you go WOW....

...and lets face it, most of these next gen games look that good that we would'nt have ever noticed that they run at such 'low' resolutions (with the exception of the Wii of course)- unless your face is that close to the tv screen .

I remember the first time i played Halo 3 on a HDTV... i was completely wowed. Never did i think that it ran at 640p... i couldn't tell.

And whats with all this fanboy stuff - "my consoles better than yours", "mines got better...this that and the other" - GROW UP! having a preference to one console i can understand, but this...?

...and yes i do have a preference.... the 360. But that doesnt mean that i think it is better than the PS3, from what ive seen - i can see very little or no difference between the 2 consoles in terms of graphics, obviously the 360 is better in terms of online gaming but thats about it.

Can't we all just get along and stop worrying about trivial matters?

No-one really complained about PSone graphics or even SNES.

I remember not too long ago playing Final Fantasy VII for the playstation and noticed intantly how bad the graphics where in terms of todays standards, but as i got into the game i stopped comparing graphics and just started to enjoy the game.

So bottom line is - just pick the console you prefer and enjoy the games
isnt that what gaming is about... enjoyment and entertainment?

WHO GIVES A F#$*

Cant we just play the games without worrying, oh no my game is only 720p.....I dont even know what that is! And I really dont care...this whole war and debate between all the consoles and what they can do is crazy. Just look at it this way, PS3 has nice graphics, 360 has nice graphics, Wii....well its fun with the controllers but we all know Wii is dead...

If everyone is really gunna break a leg over, this system cheats me out of a tiny bit of graphics...then why even care?

And in reality I think its hilarious how while Microsoft and Sony are fighting it out......Nintendo is sitting on the sideline, fine, and already working on like a new system while making new games just east

Yes something like this was what I saw 6 months back glad there is an article for this. Halo3 bashing for 640p is not wise, but even some 360 user condemned it as @Kim Naroz said Halo 3 had the best graphics I have seen I cant say so, the graphics are better than Quake 4 runing on good Pc and Frontline due to the lightning ans some areas while driving might looks astonigising but that is mostly due to the lightning mainly.
Yes and the textures and Polygons are really less since Halo3 campaign suport Forge feature and requied Huge seamless levels therfore might be they have not able to push up that criteria and hopefully DLC2 comin up is doing it and it looks better than CoD4 since every thing looks good whereas in COD4 all distant objects looks terribly bad.

1080p IS called "Full HD". Whenever 1440p shows up, we'll have to wait and see what they decide to call it. Maybe Ultra-HD or something. But Full HD will always refer to 1080p.

Since when is 720p (1280x720) not full-HD??? So what are you going to do if/when 1440p (1920x1440) comes out? Are you then going to claim that 1080p is not actually full-HD too?

I don't really feel resolution is the most important factor in deciding if a game looks great. The GPUs in this new generationof consoles (especially the 360s) are monsters that allow developers to make games look great. The upscaler is pretty impressive as well.

So just as clock speed for CPUs used to be the ultimate measure of performance, and has now given way to other factors such as multi-cores and other aspects of system architecture, the same holistic approach needs to be taken to evaluate graphics. Resolution is not the end-all be all. It IS a factor, but just one factor.
