Half a year after the OS was released, Creative was finally able to release a driver they deem to be ‘final’ and not ‘beta’ like the previous release. Some of the working features include:
- X-Fi Crystalizer
- X-Fi CMSS-3D
- MIDI Playback
- EAX Effects
- PCM stereo output through Optical Out
- Line-in connectivity
- SPDIF passthrough is supported on both Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit
- Recording capabilities
Yup, the LINE-IN port now works! w00t! And full EAX support is finally here. A few things still don’t work however:
- Decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS signals
- DVD-Audio
- DirectSound-based EAX games
- 6.1 speaker mode
Perhaps we’ll see these features in a final FINAL version of the driver. You can download the driver from Creative’s support site. The driver supports both 32- and 64-bit flavours of Vista.

Psh, no credit? =P
I’m jut glad the drivers are finally out. I can suffer without my EAX in all two of the games I play that support it for just a little while longer (though with Creative, that might just be another year or two).
Ok, there are “final” drivers ready. But as it was said few things are still missing and what more important, no proper software is realesed. I don’t understand that multi-billion pounds company can’t check and do small changes maybe to software while one person can’t create YouP-Pax software that works even under Vista 64… weird
Can’t believe that the driver capabilities for vista are so poor. My 6.1 creative setup never sounded so bad. Almost makes me want to role back to XP. Come on Creative where is your development?
