This is our first full-blown CPU review in - quite some time. I decided to pit AMD vs. Intel in a dual core battle, comparing their fastest sub $200 processors against each other. For kicks, I also threw in a Core 2 Quad Q6600, just to see if Dual Core is dead yet.

The bottom line? nope, not dead. Although quad core has some benefit in real-world applications like video encoding and 3D rendering, it’s not quite there yet. You can get a dual core CPU with quite a higher clock speed for around $100 less.

If you’re a new HCW reader and have been missing out on our famously wordy and chart-heavy CPU reviews, be sure to check this one out!

We have much more to come on the PC side, including an Abit motherboard review, an 8800GT review, a look at Creative’s X-Fi in today’s gaming environment, and a huge Vista vs. XP showdown to shut those naysayers up!
